When George Strait tickets are selling for $3000 at face value.. somethings gone wrong.

Or very right. Depends on which side you're on.

The armchair analyst in me has decided to put together a few thoughts on the recent pricing from Livenation on Premium seating at a George Strait concert. Ticket news wrote this up from the fan point of view here, I've got some thoughts on how this is going to end.. and its not going to end well for Livenation.

First - the logic behind $3000+ seats. They think they can get away with it, and on some level, they can but fans are going to get wise to what's happening - prices are gonna go lower as the event gets closer and mark my words, Livenation isn't playing fair when it comes to the inventory of "available" tickets, they can't be - just one little example I found below:

Closer seats, resale marketplace, lower price?

Check this out:

George Straight tickets .. $1533 each plus fees... but keep watching, one row back the price is higher for face value.. what the holy heck is going on here?

So what's going on here?

Either someone bought tickets closer to the stage and is ready to sell them at a loss, or TM has decided somehow that those seats right behind should be priced higher.. this is weirdness itself.

I'm gonna keep looking at this in more detail.

My rambling post aside - the bottom line in my mind is that consumers aren't gonna bite at the overpriced overhyped face value tickets, they are gonna wait til closer to the event and will buy tickets AT A LOWER PRICE. My bet is that day of show there will be tickets available in person for sale to fill the seats cause if there is one thing that artists don't like it's playing to an empty house, consumers should keep checking for ticket price drops as demand rises and falls, cause there the upside of high prices means lower deals as the date approaches, lets wait and see how this goes.
